“L(ignis)” is a Latin double entendre for wood and fire or firewood. The hidden beauties of the tree are fortuitously exposed through the act of cleaving, rather than cutting. Additionally, the forms are reinterpreted by changing the media. Here, the triptych has been scanned and 3D printed in black polycarbonate, allowing the artifacts of the technology to re-present the form, removing some of its treeness.
