"Centaurus" is Latin for “centaur”, a creature of Greek mythology with the head, arms, and torso of a man and the body and legs of a horse. This is a bas-relief that references its likeness to the fusion of man and beast  that bridges humans and nature. It was a remnant cut from another larger sculpture. The natural surfaces are scorched and oiled to retain the skin-like quality of the wood.
In 2024, Centaurus was 3D scanned. The intention is to create a 3D print in casting wax in order to create a full-scale version of this piece in iron, suitable for exterior display. This is an STL version of the scan as created by Meshlab.
