“Fluctus” is Latin for “wave” or “surge”. The curl of the wave is created by the cambium growing over a void in the tree. The intention is to create a dynamic posture to reinforce the idea of movement and the contrast between the inner and the outer; the smooth and the rough, the living and the dead.
