“Denormo” is Latin for “disfigure” or “irregular”. This piece comes from a tree that had an unusual form where two of three large branches that emerged from the trunk were parallel. This became a formal study where two right angle planes are cut into each branch, parallel with the grain. These planes were extended beyond each branch, interacting so as to overrule the normal trunk/branch relationship. The form is disfigured or refigured such that the trunk of the tree disappears.
