This work in urushi lacquer refers to the snake wrapped around the rod of the Greco-Roman god of medicine, Asclepius. The snake represents the dual nature of healing from death to life, from the horizontal to the vertical. This image comes from an exhibition at the Dowd Gallery, at SUNY Cortland in 2021.
