This pair of benches was made from a tree adjacent to the tree used to create the pair of benches installed in D.C, on the National Mall. This set is permanently installed in the entry of the new Human Ecology Building at Cornell University. These benches celebrate the co-founders of the College of Human Ecology at Cornell University. However, these benches also celebrate the role this tree played in the education of young children about maple sugar production, as seen in the exposed tap marks on the top surface and the sap buckets used below for feet.
