“Torso Salix” is Latin for “willow body”. It refers to the Greco-Roman tradition of sculpting the human body without the extremities, enabling the viewer to see the body as a distinct, almost abstract form. This piece is one of an ensemble where thirteen different tree torsos are arranged so that they appear to be moving north, mirroring actual forest responses to climate change.
