“Animus” was commissioned for a conference on climate justice at Cornell University. Its name is Latin for “soul”, “spirit”, “courage”, or “character”. Here, a clearly animate form, but one not quite human nor animal nor plant, is struggling to rise. The central idea is that climate justice does not apply only to humans but to all living things that we share the earth with. We struggle together.
