"Victis Acernis" is Latin for "vanquished maple". It is one of a series of tree root pieces referencing the harmful effects of global warming on temperate hardwoods in North America. This piece was included in “Beyond Earth Art”, curated by the Johnson Museum of Art, Cornell University, Ithaca NY on the 45th anniversary of Cornell’s famous “Earth Art” exhibition of 1969.
