“Precaria” is from the Latin “to be in an unstable state”. This refers to the impending extinction of all ash species in the US due to the attack of the Emerald borer beetle. This is an invasive insect that arrived to the US in the 1950’s but has recently become much more aggressive due to longer summers and more life cycles due to climate change. The stack seems ready to fall, creating a strong sense of uneasiness in the viewer.
